Three Rivers, Three Locations, One Event: The Regatta
Heinz Lofts are perfectly situated along the Allegheny River, making it the optimal place to take in all of Pittsburgh’s sights, including fireworks at PNC Park, kayakers partaking in a weekend paddle, and an occasional weekend boat wedding. Peering out your window this weekend, you might notice that there is more boat traffic than usual. That is because Pittsburgh is taking part in the largest boating and water safety event of the season, the EQT Three Rivers Regatta.
Just a mere 1.5 mile walk from the front door of Heinz Lofts, at Point State Park, spectators will be treated to freestyle jet skiing championships and marvelous sand sculptures. Head on over to the Bank of America main stage where you can take in the soulful stylings of the Commonheart, the rock anthem of Sugar Ray, and the country loving of Randy Houser.
Take the kids to Point State Park where there will be a Kid Zone, a Frisbee dog competition, and a makeshift beach. Watch as they learn all about water safety and the importance of the three rivers to Pittsburgh all while having a ton of fun.
Don’t have any kids, or leaving them at home this weekend? Maybe go over to the main lawn on the North Shore and enjoy the Yuengling Beer Garden, and you will not even lose your view of all of the boating fun occurring on the Allegheny.
If shopping is more your speed, the Regatta is opening a special Regatta Marketplace along Liberty Ave. There will be lines of food trucks that will be perfect for either lunch or dinner. Don’t like food trucks? No problem, walk on over to Market Square where there are plenty of great places to eat. The options are endless.
On Saturday night, celebrate the Regatta with the Regatta Thunder Fireworks display. This is the perfect finish to a long day of fun for the whole family. The Regatta has a little bit of everything for everyone. That is the best part about Pittsburgh, even at such a huge event like the Regatta, there is never a neighbor left out. Hope to see you at the Regatta neighbor.
