Do you have a taste for something sweet? Then visit one of the bakeries near Heinz Lofts that are known for their delicious sugary creations:
Priory Fine Pastries
Just six minutes away, Priory Fine Pastries was voted “2nd Best Bakery” by readers of Pittsburgh Magazine. It opened in 2004 and it wasn’t long before the bakery had loyal customers who enjoyed its delicious coffee and delectable goodies. The executive pastry chef makes almost all items entirely from scratch and they include peanut butter and jelly cupcakes, thumbprint cookies, and blueberry pie.
Jean-Marc Chatellier’s French Bakery
Owned by a third generation French baker who was raised in Brittany, this bakery is smaller in size making it similar to a French village patisserie. During your visit, you are likely to see Jean-Marc hard at work pounding butter, rolling dough, or icing cakes all while he’s chatting with customers. Items include chocolate rum pecan pies, whipped cream strawberry eclairs, and vanilla bean macarons.
Grandview Bakery and Sweet Shop
The Grandview Bakery and Sweet Shop opened its door five years ago after many residents expressed a desire for a local bakery. It’s situated just a few steps from the overlook and Monongahela incline and seven days a week, the bakers create a variety of decadent treats. Choices include apple fritters, pumpkin rolls, and brownie nut bars. You’ll also find turtles, chocolate caramel pretzel drumsticks, and other chocolate confections made from family recipes passed down from generation to generation.
